Vblast - Metal and Mixed Media

Vblast was born in 1960 in Oakland, CA. A self taught artist, he began drawing and painting at an early age, influenced by his mother who was a landscape painter. At the age of 16, the artist began screen-printing in his garage to make extra money and the experience led him into the field of commercial art. For over 25 years, Vblast has honed his skills in the arena of independent graphic illustration, creating shirt designs, tattoo flash, cd art, as well as magazine and book illustrations. In 2001 the artist decided to leave the world of commercial art and devote himself entirely to his own work. The abstract art of Vblast has been exhibited in a variety of northwest galleries and venues as well as being part of numerous private collections across North America.

"I have been painting for as long as I have been alive, and as long as I have been painting I have always been as fascinated by the process, as much as the end product. I have devoted myself exclusively to painting highly textured non-objective abstract works that I find a joy and a challenge to create. Each piece is its own epiphany and a stepping stone in this path I have taken. It is my desire to draw the viewer into the work emotionally as well as physically, to entice them to return to the image again and again."

Driven by her inspiration to create - "I believe The Creator of all, gave his creation the ability to create, and that fascinates, humbles, and inspires me.” - she has since expanded her repertoire to include digital music, and multimedia art. "Aside from being a vehicle of self expression and communication, my creations carry my dreams, aspirations, and analysis of life. I am devoted to my passions, and hope to never stop growing personally, or artistically."

Jason Daniels - Paintings

The creative process and exploration are the main reasons I make art. Just looking for and finding things to use in the process is like a cryptic scavenger hunt. Many times I let the materials dictate what I do with them. I like seeing the beauty in decay and evidence of the passage of time. Accidentally discovering something fortunate while looking for something else entirely is a goal with each piece I undertake.

Oil paint, pencil, pen, computer, glue, charcoal, spray paint, photos, and found images are the media that are used to make most of my pieces. Sometimes I like to limit myself and keep the final image really simple while making the path to get there a little more involved.

There are no pre-thought out associations I expect the viewer to get out of my work. Drawing one's own conclusion from the combination of subject matter and execution of each piece is more than enough. I am just happy to share what I have made.

All of my drawings are created with black ink and brightly colored pencils. Top that off with some slippery shiny resin and SHAZAM, good times! And it makes me smile.

Erin Goodell - Mixed Media Paintings

These pieces are a combination of painting and other mixed media. The collages consist of pieces derived from a stockpile of souvenirs from my whole life including things saved from childhood or recently acquired items, as well as bits of trash, photos, magazine and newspaper clippings, and anything else that finds its way in. The faces painted on top or separately are usually in acrylic, mostly representing subject matter from within 1970's knitting magazines.

Darin Shuler - Illustrations

The drawings I make illustrate unwritten stories. I have most recently finished "Time Elastic", a series involving time-traveling mummies. The series quietly poses philosophical questions about space and time. Ink and watercolor (being my typical medium) have taken a digital turn in recent months, allowing me a certain depth and complexity that space and time deserve. I continue to ride the digital wave into my next series "Omni".

Anna Parker, Mixed Media

Born in Portland, ME, Anna Parker earned her BFA at Endicott College in Beverly, MA. While earning her undergraduate degree she interned with studio artist and professor Ric Haynes, the Peabody Essex Museum and the Society of Arts and Crafts.

Originally, Anna studied studio painting before branching out into book art and collage in her final year of college. Recently, Anna has been exploring the use of antique photographs in a mixed media application to create intimate portraits of children isolated in space and time. Her collage work also uses images and representations of children as the focal point within visual stories of personal journey and experience.

Anna has exhibited her work at the J. David Broudo Gallery in Beverly, MA and her work resides in private collections in Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Washington. She has been living in Seattle for the past four years and is a member of the local Book Arts Guild.

Michael DiPetrillo - Paintings

It is my hope that my paintings stink - or at least a viewer could imagine that contained within each one they have some type of smell. I want them to have sound, whirring and clicking of gears, swishing, and perhaps a few laser noises. I want my paintings to have stories that are not necessarily answerable without some laughter. More importantly, I want the viewer to come up with a story of their own because more often than not it is far more outlandish, interesting, and hilarious than my original intention could have dreamt of.

The recent series is based on choosing stars in the sky that are of cultural or personal interest to me. Some of the stars are close to home and have stories that are told throughout human history. Other stars have no history, they are either too dim or distant to see with our own eyes or our knowledge of them too brief for us to have significant stories about them. The goal of the star paintings is to treat an almost unfathomably distant speck of light in the sky as a character that could sit and pose for a painting and I could help tell their story.

These drawings and illustrations are all made in a stream of consciouses manner. I sit down at my table and let my thoughts out onto the page--often slightly skewed takes on sayings, reversed-proverbs, and solemn absurdities come out. I enjoy the way I think when I have a chance to drown out the rational-internal narrator, and let the id pour in and take the soapbox in naive interpretations of daily wisdom.

Angela Baroumes, Paintings

Angela Baroumes holds an Associates Degree in Art, a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology with an emphasis in Consciousness, Health & Healing. The artist is a Seattle native with a passion for travel, mysticism and discovery. She has traveled extensively through Mexico, Europe and Asia, translating her love of exotic peoples, spiritual practices and landscapes onto her canvas.

Angela's colorful palette and figurative images can best be described as spontaneous, archetypal and transcendent. Recent ventures into mixed-medium/encaustics explore the juxtaposition of ancient themes in modern times. Her art serves as metaphorical mirrors for self contemplation, illumination and enjoyment.

Through the sharing of art, Angela's intention is to attune to and inspire a growing sense of wonder, wisdom, peace and beauty in the heart of each viewer. She currently serves as a Board member at the Art Not Terminal Gallery, exhibits at various Seattle galleries and retail shops and receives commissions to produce intuitive art for personal empowerment and manifestation. Having recently sold to her first international buyer, Angela envisions increased future opportunities to share her art across the globe.

Artist statement
After being in the graphic design business for so many years, I have become increasingly fascinated by the nature of characters and symbols used by us humans to communicate with each other. Glyphs, memes, street art and graffiti are always vying for my attention regardless of their method of transmission. We are bombarded by radio waves, signage, audio stimulation, and other various forms of visual infestation. These seek to reside in our psyche for good or ill in a constantly changing cultural environment. I am a matchstick in this tidal wave of informational cluster bombs.
